2013 Summer Youth Work Experience Program
- Los Angeles County announces its 2013 Summer Youth Work Experience Program (SYWEP), designed to allow youth ages 14-21 to obtain work experience. The priority of service is given to youth in a CalWORKs household and General Relief and youth that are Foster Care, Probation, and Homeless. During the program, youth will be introduced to the workplace, gain valuable employment skills and earn an income. Youth will have the opportunity to gain work experience in a variety of locations throughout Los Angeles County. More information will be coming soon! - On April 23, 2013, the County Board of Supervisors presented its Fifth Annual Green Leadership Awards recognizing outstanding and innovative energy conservation and environmental efforts by the private and public sectors.

LACountyHelps is a free, easy and anonymous way to find out if your family can get help from many different health and human services programs. The website allows you to fill in your personal circumstances to determine what programs may be of assistance. It also provides program descriptions, contact information, and items you will need to bring to an eligibility interview.

There are 88 cities in Los Angeles County, each with its own city council. All of the cities, in varying degrees, contract with the County to provide municipal services. The County provides some services for all residents, like public health protection, public social services, property assessment and vital records.

Unincorporated Areas
Get information about services provided to residents of unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. More than 65 percent of the County is unincorporated and approximately 1 million people live in these areas. The Board of Supervisors acts as the "city council" and County departments provide the municipal services.
