The County provides housing programs to benefit and protect residents. These programs range from establishing and enforcing zoning and building codes for unincorporated areas, to providing housing for low-income residents, to inspecting housing and institutions to ensure they are safe, sanitary and fit for human habitation.

Community Organizations Can Become Energy Champions Community Organizations Can Become Energy Champions
Energy Upgrade California has launched the “Energy Champions” program to help community-based organizations raise money by encouraging homeowners in their communities to make their homes more energy efficient. An Energy Champion organization can receive $500 for each homeowner they introduce to the program who completes a home energy upgrade.

County Map Updates on Twitter
A new Twitter account launched by the Los Angeles County Public Works Department is helping to put residents on the map – literally. Those signing up for the service will receive daily updates on tract map and parcel map recordation, as well as other land surveying and development-related information.

County's Section 8 Housing Program Gets Positive Rating County's Section 8 Housing Program Gets Positive Rating
The Los Angeles County Housing Authority has received its highest performance score to date for its Section 8 housing program. The agency scored 120 out of possible 145 points in rating by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Housing Resource Center Serves as Clearinghouse
The Los Angeles County Housing Resource Center is a web-based clearinghouse for information on affordable, special needs, accessible, and emergency housing within the County of Los Angeles.

Solar Mapping Program Debuts
A new solar mapping program allows homeowners and businesses in Los Angeles County to go online to determine if their properties are good candidates for solar power. To use the free service, go to http://solarmap.lacounty.gov.
