Parks and Recreation

The County’s parks and recreation system includes more than 70,000 acres of parks, lakes, trails, natural areas, and gardens, including the Arboretum and Descanso Gardens, and the world’s largest public golf course system. These include 182 regional and local parks, more than 200 miles of horse, biking and hiking trails, 20 golf courses and 30 public swimming pools. The County has teamed with the private sector to offer additional amenities at its parks, including boat and bicycle rentals, recreational vehicle parks, equestrian rentals and boarding, and the Raging Waters water park.
