California law requires that all dogs over the age of four months be vaccinated against rabies and licensed through the local animal care and control agency.
The County of Los Angeles (County) requires the same AND that all dogs be spayed/neutered and microchipped. Cats are also required to be vaccinated for rabies at four months of age and licensed.
Licensing is an important means of identification and can help to return lost pets to their owners quickly. It can be done online quickly, in person at an animal care facility, or through the mail.
