Budget & Legislation

The County operates on a fiscal year, which begins July 1 and ends June 30. The CEO presents a recommended budget to the Board in April and the Board adopts the budget in June after holding public hearings. The budget is then revised based on updated revenue and expenditues and the final adopted budget is generally adopted in September or October.

Legislation plays a significant role in determining State and Federal policies, regulations, programs, and funding allocations that affect County operations and programs. The Board of Supervisors approved County’s Legislative Program allows for an on-going and timely process by which the County can monitor, address and respond to legislative proposals that could significantly affect County programs, finances, and the residents we serve.
