DRAFT GENERAL PLAN FOR UNINCORPORATED AREAS AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW FIRST WEST NILE VIRUS CASE REPORTED IN COUNTY The Department of Public Health has confirmed four human West Nile Virus infections in Los Angeles County, the first cases of the 2008 season. Three male adults and one male child were infected. Residents are urged to remove standing water near their homes and to wear insect repellant to protect themselves from mosquito bites. COUNTY PARK YOUTH SOCCER TEAM HONORED Fourteen players of South Los Angeles' Carver Park youth soccer team are on their way to Paris, France after winning the Dannon Invitational Cup. The team, the second in U.S. history to attend the Danone Nations Cup, was honored by the Board of Supervisors during the July 15 meeting. The boys, between 10-12 years old, are the only team in their age group to compete for the title of Best Youth Soccer Team. They will compete against 40 other countries in Paris Sept. 4-7. |
